Yarn expedition!

Expedition - an excursion, journey, or voyage made for some specific purpose (such as buying yarn at great sales).

This coming Sat. "Fingerlakes Fibers", my nearest and favorite yarn store in Watkins Glen, is having their annual - CUSTOMER APPRECIATION SALE!

The daughter is coming over Friday evening for dinner and she will spend the night. Sat. morning we will get up at 4:45 and get ready to leave the house by 5:30 to get to the store by 6:00!
Why, why such insane-ness?  If you get to the store between 6 - 7 you get 40% off your total purchase! So totally worth it! There is coffee and donuts and door prizes! One year I actually won a bag of yarn!  Its all real nice stuff too.
Then after the yarn buying the daughter and I will go out to breakfast to one of our favorite places.

Here's some stuff I have been working on -
Here is hat I made a while back -
And  here is a scarf I am making to match. I love the colors and the yarn is so soft.

This is an ear-flap hat I have been wanting to make for a long time. I kinda have a feeling it might be too big around. If it is I may have to rip it out which would be so sad!

  1. Haven't been to a yarn sale in some time. I too love Finger Lakes Fibers. Take your hat off the needles onto a spare piece of yarn and see if you like the size. Then you won't have to rip the whole thing out when it is finished. I'm making a scarf from Paton's Lace. Boring but relazing.

  2. You do realize, if I get mandated on Friday I wont be getting to your house till 11:30 which means I wont be getting to bed till midnight which means I'll only get 4.5 hours of sleep...

I told Sean that I will be napping at his house!

  3. I like Finger Lakes Fiber...great yarn shop.
Love the things you are making. The hats are so cute, I wish I liked wearing them but I don't, never have. Like them on other people just not on me.

  4. Love, love, love yarn! If I walk into the yarn shop I come home with yarn. I love your hat - it's probably a bit too hard for me yet. That yarn is a really beautiful color. I just made my first hat a while ago and I didn't make it big enough but it did turn out. Now I'm busy with wrist warmers because my hands and those of my friends are always cold. Lol.

Have fun at the sale. How I wish I was going with you guys!
