Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

The Pictures: The first one is of my wonderful, beautiful, sweetie kitty Martina. Doesn't she look so comfy sitting on the toilet? I think my husband does that, Sometimes he is in there forever! I actually call into him "Honey, are you awake?"
The second one is a hat for one of my kids. It is one of the best hats! It is a real thick wool blend. Fits him real nice and is real soft.
Third - My little pumpkin patch! Aren't they cute? I made these with the kids. There is a toilet paper roll under there! They were so easy to make and the parents loved them!
Forth & Fifth - Two more scarves! They turned out so pretty and fluffy. But I hate working with this yarn! They are both very hairy and knobby, very hard to knit with.

I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving! I love it! It is my second favorite holiday next to Christmas of course. I am cooking this year! Glen's parents are coming over, Ashley will be home, and Ashley's boyfriend (Micah) is coming for a few days! He will sleep on the floor of the Daycare room. I just love sitting around all day talking with family.

Books - I finished "A Dirty Job" I loved it!!!! It was so funny! It was so bizarre! It was so unbelievable! I think if was too real I would not have liked it, it was the totally "this could never really happen" that I liked about it. Casey - You would love this book! Write it down, now... well... do it! I don't see you getting a pen very fast.
The book I am reading now is "Fifty Acres and a Poodle"and I am loving this one too! For exactly the opposite reason. This is a memoir, just the story about a woman who has always dreamed of buying a farm, so she does! It is also very funny and real! I read 1/3 of the book in just one sitting! there is a sequel so I will have to get that one too.

My top five this week is of course Thanksgiving dinner! Top 5 favorite Thanksgiving foods in the order that you like them #1 being your favorite.

1. Stuffing!!!!! I just love stuffing (with gravy on top)! and I love "MY" stuffing to be exact!
2. Squash! I also love squash.
3. Mashed potatoes and gravy!
4. Turkey! with gravy
5. Pies!!!!

After re-reading this, maybe it is the gravy I like! I don't really have gravy at any other time of the year so it seems so special, I just put it on everything! What are your favorites?

Knitting Lessons N E 1?

I make it a habit to sit and knit while I am with the children. They always want to know what I am making, what it looks like now, etc. I think it also gives us a more homey feeling. Like I am just the "mom" sitting and knitting, while the kids are playing.
Well this brought on two things - They all wanted me to knit them something. So I am. I let them choose between a scarf or a hat (both are pretty easy to knit) and I let them choose what yarn they wanted. So these pictures are some of the things I have finished. One scarf for each of the little girls (the pink and purple) the black and white one for one of my 4th grade boys, and the blue hat for my other 4th grade boy. I will post the others as I finish them.
The second thing this brought on was - My two forth grade boys wanted to learn to knit!!! So I taught them! Well... one of them at least. I taught "C" on Vetern's day and he actually learned very quickly! I thought he would be good at it. He really loves it. His mom walked in and her jaw dropped as she said "Is he knitting?" "Wow!" "It looks like he is doing a good job." I told her he was doing a very good job. The other boy "J", also wanted to learn, but let me be kind in saying... Knitting is not his thing. I told him "Some people are good at sports, some people are good at drawing, some people are good at playing video games, but not everybody is good at everything. Maybe knitting is just not your thing" He wanted to try just one more time, but no luck. He couldn't knit a stitch to save his life!

Glen and I went to Watkins Glen this weekend for dinner at Jerlando's (Italian) we had a very good dinner. We also went to walmart, famous brands and last Dunkin Donuts. The Dunkin Donuts there is new and real nice! It is more Cafe' style, different from the others. It has tiled floors, tall tables and chairs, and a little bar you can sit at. It is all nice and clean and pretty. Oh! how could I forget the large flat screen TV!

Books - I finished "The Beans of Egypt Maine" by Carolyn Chute. I thought it was fairly good. It was a fiction story about poverty stricken families of Maine. I felt the story got a little carried away and was more comical because it was so far fetched. But I did enjoy reading it.
My new book is "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore is great so far! It is about a man who suddenly gets the power to know when people are going to die by seeing objects they are holding glow. Or is he making them die?

Top 5 favorite things to cook (or bake)
1. Chicken parm. (one of my familiy's favorites)
2. anything in the crockpot!!!!
3. Mac and cheese
4. Lasagna
5. omelettes (I am really good at making them, if I may say so)

Notice I do not like baking!
What are your fav.s?

Warm weather in NY!

This is the "New Song of the week" Artist Billy Currington! Hee hee, sorry guys, couldn't help it, he's HHHOT!!!! I like his singing too!

Nov. 7th is my Step-Father's birthday. Nov. 9th is my Husband's birthday! So Happy Birthday!

Sat. Glen and I got together with our friends and went out to eat at "Little Venice", Yum, very good food! There was so much, my leftovers the next night was just as large as what I had already eaten. Afterwards we went over to their house and had coffee and icecream. While we were there, Ashley called on my cell phone. She said "Mom! Where are you on a Sat. night at 10:15?" So, what does she exactly mean by that? Because we are her parents we do not go out, because we are old we do not go out, because she is so used to us "being there" we do not go out, because she thinks we are stuffy we do not go out? I have news for you... WE GO OUT! I told her "We are partying!" My friend Donya said something and Ashley yelled "You're with Donya! No fair!" Oh I get it now. Because we are without her, we do not "get" to go out. I see how it is. Let this be a tribute to parents around the world who need to go out without their kids! Thank you Ashley for helping us see the light! Parents, do it! Don't be old and stuffy, get your fat butts up off the couch and "go out"! (Hee Hee, good thing Ashley has a good sense of humor, since I am basically making fun of her.)

The weather her has been great! It has been 60's all week! It is so nice to get the kids outside to play. Yesterday we didn't even wear our coats.

I got a recognition award from the library the other day! It says -
Spotlight on Service
This certificate is awarded to Wendy Barrows
in recognition of her dedicated service to teens
at the Interlaken Public Library
from the Finger Lakes Library System
signed by the Exec. Director and the FLLS President
How nice! I do not take these awards lightly! I was thrilled! I am so glad to get any recognition for the work I do with the teens, it is nice to know that people notice and care!

Knitting - I am finishing the gloves I started to go with my hat, the purple ones. I will also be working on Christmas gifts.

Reading - my reading has been slow, don't know why, it hasn't been for lack of good books that is for sure. I am enjoying the one I am reading "Confessions of a Contractor" it is so funny. I am actually almost done. Not sure which one I will read next. I got alot of new books this past week, but also have alot of old ones I need to read.

My top 5 this week was inspired by Shelley from MI, she has a wonderful birding blog with really great pictures, you should check it out.

3. Titmouse
