In the midst of summertime.

Now if only she could actually do the laundry!

This is the truck my husband is driving this week (in the sunrise at 5:30am). It doesn't look that big in the picture but it is huge! About 4-5 times the length of my car, and I have an SUV so it is a big car.

Awww, somebody loves me! (well besides my family). Thanks to Missy at Missy's book nook
"Being a recipient of this award affirms that this blog invests and believes in the Proximity – nearness in space, time and relationships."

What's happening - Not much really. With having the month of Aug. off, I do have a few little projects planned. I have already started cleaning and re-arranging my Daycare room. I want to re-paint the front porch (but haven't started yet) I will be posting some before and after pictures.
And I guess the big news is we have put our "Thousand Islands Lake property" up for sale! With Glen's new(ish) job we just do not have the time for it. We hardly ever get up there. We would like to buy something else a little closer to home. That's why all the visits to Tug Hill! That area is only 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. away. And yes we have been looking at property for sale. Here is the link to our property - Grass Lake Land for sale, click on the pictures on the top and you can see more pictures. Its not that we don't love it up there, we do. It is absolutely beautiful! I hate getting rid of it, but it does us no good if we never go there.

I remember when I was a teenager, my mom and I used to get headaches t the same time. Well now I am going through the same thing with my daughter. She will call me and say "I have a headache today" and I will say "Me Too!" but also she will call and say "I don't feel very good today", or- "I have an upset stomach" or something else and I almost always say "Me too!" Does anyone else have this happen?

Knitting - Still working on socks!!! LOL I am looking at some new patterns though.

Books I have read - Waiting for the Moon, by Kristin Hannah. This was my second Kristin Hannah book and I am sure it will not be my last. This book took place in a house on the shores of Maine where a young woman throws herself off a cliff, battering her skull making her face an unrecognizable mess, she ends up at Lethe House, where young doctor Ian Carrick looks after a pack of loonies (including his own mother). Ian, formerly a surgeon, had been shot by a jealous husband and, after a near-death experience, he was cursed with the ability to feel the psychic pain of anyone he touches. The great thing about the young cliff-jumper, whom Ian names Selena, is that when he touches her he doesn't feel anything but growing passion. He believes that healing Selena will restore his illustrious reputation. Though she has lost all her memory, she quickly makes a family of the oddities Ian's care, including his mad mother Maeve. They would live happily ever after, except that her husband comes to take her back to their Shaker village. She never did like it there but now she longs for her freedom even more.

"What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day" by Pearl Cleage. This book was shockingly good! I had to keep reminding myself that it was fiction, it read so much l like a memoir. Right on the very first page, Ava, the main character tells us she is HIV positive. But this book is so much more than that - it is about AIDS, teen pregnancy, drug use, teen violence and love. It takes place in a small town north of Detroit MI.

Contests - Liz and Lisa over at Chick lit is not dead is giving away 3 copies of "Time of My Life" by Allison Winn Scotch. This book sounds real good!

I won a great book - "Julie and Julia" by Julie Powell, I can't wait to get this one from Chick loves Lit. You may have seen the previews for the movie that is coming out, I would love to see the movie too.

  1. That is a HUGEEEEE truck! I always wonder how people can drive those... I can barely handle a van sometimes.

For your Louisiana book you could read a Sookie Stackhouse book-they are very popular right now, and I love them.

  4. Erin - I've read O Pioneer already! but I have not read Lonesome Dove! Being the Historical fiction fan that I am. I will have to look into that, I think it is kind of long isn't it?

Shanyn - Thanks, reading one next!!! (after the one I'm reading now)

You are selling your lake land!!!!!
I can understand why. I just remember how excited you were to get it. What about ypour camper, whats going to happen to that?

Congrats! (we love you and are so proud of you)

"BIG" truck!!! Do you think he would take me for a ride?
You mean you have not taught Martina to do the laundry yet?

What are you going to read when you finish reading about all the states?
    Love Ya, Mom

  6. As always Martina is beautiful. I keep telling Buddy he needs to get a job to pay for all his expenses but he pays me no mind.

My dad used to drive truck and tried for a few years after he retired but his knees are too bad. I grew up around trucks this size even sat in dad's lap back in the old days when me and mom would go with him.

Too bad about selling your lake lot. It does look nice. My parents are kind of in the same dilemma. They have a great place but never seem to make it out there. Dad just runs out to get the lawn mowed and such so it's really more work than anything.

    Have a great week!

  8. I've read a whole series (Newpointe 911 series by Terri Blackstock) that were all placed in Louisiana. They were all good, christian murder mysteries. What are you planning on reading next? Maybe a book with each color of the rainbow in the title? Like Blue like Jazz

  9. I think the truck does look huge, along with that list of books from each state. Still watching for more photos of the socks, love that color. Still haven't started socks, guess that is why I am so interested.
