Yarn & Super Bowl (what a great pair)

Pictures - These are pictures of the yarn I bought at that big sale in Watkins glen. They are all Schaefer Yarn. I told my husband "I have always wanted Schaefer Yarn but could never afford it before, so now is my chance." Which is kinda ironic because Schaefers live up around the corner from us! The top picture is a cotton yarn, the orig. price is almost $40. (I got it for 22.) The bottom 2 are a wool blend and they were both orig. in the twenty's. I am very excited! I love the colors I got. Now I really can't wait till I get my cast off, but it did cheer me up. I also got 3 sets of circular needles.

The Steelers play in the Superbowl this Sunday. I am very excited! I didn't put two and two together at the time but, my Author friend - Erin Grady lives in AZ! The Steelers are playing the AZ Cardinals! Good luck to Erin and her team. May the Steelers, I mean, the best team win!
A store called "Famous Brands" in Watkins does a special thing on Superbowl Sunday every year. It is tradition to meet our friends Donya and Danny to shop before the Superbowl. What they do is - you shop and pick out what you want to buy, you take it up to the cashier and she rings it up, then you get to spin this big wheel with all kinds of discounts on it. Whatever it lands on is your discount. Our friends got "free" one year! and I think they and also we got 50% on different years. Unfortunately it is more common to get 5 - 15% off. I'll let you know what we get this year.

Books - A Year by the Sea: Thoughts of an Unfinished Woman. I thought this was good, but not great. I wanted more about Cape Cod and less about her failing marriage. There were some good parts where she talked about the sea and islands, seals, clamming, fishing, and the weather. Then there were so many more parts about her husband, marriage, and separation. This was a memoir about a woman who goes to her family home on Cape Cod to "find herself" and decide if her marriage is worth saving. After all that talk, I couldn't really figure out what exactly made her get back together with him. I thought her life there alone was great! If it was me, I would have ditched the hubby and just lived there alone. LOL! I mean, If I had her husband not mine!

Reading Through the States -
1. California - Echoes, by Erin Grady
2. Florida - In Her Shoes, by Jennifer Weiner
3. Iowa - The Learning, by Ruthann Weaver
4. Massachusetts (Cape Cod) - A Year by the Sea, by Joan Anderson

Top 5 little ways you let your hubby (or other) know you love him.
What do you do?
1. I make just what he likes for dinner every night (he is very picky)
2. I make his lunch for him everyday (except lately with my cast)
3. I greet him at the door every night when he comes home.
4. I go out to say goodbye to him every morning and tell him I love him.
5. I make his coffee for him every morning.

  1. Congratulations on your yarn purchases. Heather is my absolute favorite. I've done socks, scarves and a chill chaser with it. From one skein you could make the chill chaser even longer than the one I did which just covers the shoulders. They had the pattern free on their website at one time. It may still be there.

  3. Those yarn colors you got are so beautiful! And I'm glad you reviewed that book "A Year by the Sea" - I keep passing over it on Amazon and debated about ordering it. I'm thinking about posting a book swap on an upcoming blog post.

  6. Love the yarn - great deal!!!

Let me count the ways...5 to let my hubby know I L O V E him:

    1. Every night when he pulls toward the house, he gets a BIG RECEPTION in the yard the dogs and I go out to greet him.

    2. When putting certain food on dinner plates, I omit what he doesn't like.

    3. When going out to eat at restaurants, I dress up. Yeah, that one is for me but I look good for him.

    4. When he talks about work, I listen to what is going on. And ask about it later.

    5. He had some pictures of me up in the bathroom when I had a really bad haircut. Joan Jett haircut, doesn't look good on me...only if I had a black t.shirt on with black eyeliner. I had the jelly stickums and put BE MINE on his side of the mirror.

I do hope you are feeling better dear!!
