6/7/10

Is this the rainy, cold season?

WHAT'S HAPPENING - Three more weeks of school! Three more weeks of kids! Two more weeks till the first day of summer! Someone has summer fever!
Its freezing here! Ok, well, maybe not actually freezing but after 80's and even in the 90's this feels cold. It was high 40's when I got up! I have a long sleeve shirt on! What's up with that?

Ashley starts her first day at her new job today! I am very excited for her. I think she is coming over tonight for dinner and a movie so I will get the full scoop. We planted her garden on , hmmm, can't remember what day it was??? Maybe Thurs? Any way, we hoed and weeded, and planted radishes, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, and one tomato plant. It looks great.

Oh, did I mention that I got stung by a bee in the process? Yeah, her landlord has honey bees, next to the garden. The only thing I can figure is that i must have hit one that was on the ground and it flew up and stung  to protect itself. They don't usually just sting people for the heck of it. I am not afraid of bees and everything was OK as soon as Ashley was able to get the bee out of my hair!
Here are a couple pictures of her new Apt. (I will save the rest for her to post.)

TV - OHHHHH, TV is so boring without, Survivor, DWTS, LOST, Mercy, Etc. so now into the land or re-runs.
We do have "So You Think you can Dance" and also "America's got Talent" and next Sunday - "Design Star" starts!! Yea! I really like that one, I have watched all the other seasons. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! It is on HGTV, it is like a contest for Interior designers. The winner gets their own show on HGTV.

KNITTING - Knitting has been a little slow. I am almost finished with those blue socks, I will post pictures next week.

BOOKS - I started "The Lost City of Z" by David Grann. While parts of it are very interesting, parts of it are pretty boring! This is a non-fiction book about exploring The Amazon in search of a "Lost City", a remote village that people have told about but no one has ever seen. The first explorer disappeared and was never heard from again. Over 100 people have also disappeared since then, looking for him and any signs of what happened. I am 1/4 of the way through and I feel like I should have been taking notes. This book is very detailed and not fast reading so I am going to be rading other books along with it.

I finally received and read the 3rd book in the Claire Evert series! "I Love Claire" by Tracey Bateman. It was just as good as the other two. She has a lot of other books out that I am going to look into. One series called Drama Queen series sounds good. She has a great way of developing the characters and making you feel like you are right there.

Be careful of the bees! Good thing you are not allergic to them.

  5. Ashley's apartment looks so cozy. I love the chairs by the window. That's one of my favorite places to read although distracting.
