Falling is inevitable!

WHAT'S HAPPENING - Well, Fall has arrived and we have had the best weather!! It has been in the upper 60's to mid 70's and a couple days in the 80's, one even close to 90! We have had a couple of rainy or drizzly days but also lots of sunshine! Now this is the kind of fall weather I love! Here it is the end of Sept. and I have all the windows and doors open.

Wild grapes, too bad they don't taste as yummy as they look!
Beautiful Fall wild flowers

Glen working on the tractor up at our barn property. This John Deere is a 1962! We're the same age!
I love the look of this plow all covered with wild flowers so much better that covered with snow!

The Steelers are 3 - 0!

TV - Yea!!! TV was so much fun last week!
DWTS - "The Hoff" was voted off. But the highlight was Jenn. Gray (Dirty Dancing)! What a performance. I literally cried all through the whole thing. I knew it was gonna be hard to watch her being the Patrick Swayze fan that I was. But I just sobbed, it was beautiful! In my opinion, she stole the show!
Survivor - Whoa! What the heck was that all about!!!! LOL What a bunch of immature children! I never liked Shannon and was not sorry to see him go, the tribe will be better off. My personal fav. - Marty (and not just because his a Phil Vassar look alike).
Also watching - The Amazing Race, Parenthood, Glee, The good wife (hasn't started yet), and SVU.
BUT - the winner of the week (I thought) was "Raising Hope" WOW! what a pleasant surprise. They advertised the heck out of this show, and you'd think, "It can't be that good" well... it is! This show is Hilarious! I don't ever remember liking a Sitcom so much. Usually I don't even like Sitcoms and tend to stay away from them, but thought I would give this one a try. I am so glad I did. I think this is gonna be one of my favs.

KNITTING - Here is some pictures of my recent knitting.
A pair of wool boot socks for Glen for his birthday (don't tell)
A pair of socks for me, isn't the color beautiful!!! Got the yarn at Hobby Lobby in TN.
Something new I am trying. This is called "Modular knitting" I am making a sock blanket. It is made from all the left over sock yarn! Isn't that great? I have seen it on soo many blogs I thought I would give it a try.

BOOKS - Read "Rowing the Atlantic: Lessons Learned on the Open Ocean" by Roz Savage. UGH, I really hate to do this but I only give it 3 stars! I bought this book while at my moms in TN and I was so excited to find it. It looked like just the kind of book that I would love. Roz Savage decided in her mid thirties to row across the Atlantic ocean  in "The Atlantic Rowing Race", she was the first solo woman to do the 3,000 mile race from The Canary Islands to Antigua. I thought this book was gonna be so exciting, I was hoping for almost a day to day account of what was happening. It was not like that at all. The parts about the race, and her daily adventures were very good, but there was sooo much other stuff, it made it really boring and long to read. The last 100 pages were the best and most descriptive, and was mostly about the race. She definitely seems like a great person, very brave, and should be considered a "Hero" right up there with the women who run the Iditarod. I just wish her book had been a little more exciting.
She has a great website -HERE  it has great videos and explains exactly what she does.

Two more weeks till the Read-a-thon! Next week I will post my book list.

DWTS = I missed it but I'm envious because I was a huge DD fan and therefore love JG/PS. I must find it online.

I remember that yarn you bought here. It is working up really pretty.
I really like to do modular knitting. I have done a few things in it...if you want some pattern let me know.

  3. Hi Wendy. Google Alert for 'roz savage' brought your page to me this morning. While your rating of "Rowing the Atlantic: Lessons Learned on the Open Ocean" is fair for an adventure story, it is about lessons learned (her inner journey). For a day-by-day exciting read, I suggest reading the archives beginning May 2009 and March 2010 at the following links:

Roz bears her soul (including the stupidest thing she has ever done) interactively with her fans. She is an innovative nuts-and-bolts problem-solving adventurer and shares the details of her trials at sea, along with her mistakes and the consequences.

Roz is currently on a US and Canada speaking tour and may be seen on a live webcast this Thursday morning at 10:30 AM (Pacific Time)
