About the book -
Book 2 in The Lancaster Secrets collection and hot on the heals of the best-selling The Choice, The Waiting, a stand alone story, is a compelling page turner. Jorie King has been waiting for Benjamin Zook to return home to Lancaster County so they can marry. When news arrives that Ben has been killed, Jorie finds comfort in the friendship of his brother Caleb. That friendship ripens into love, and it seems that they are meant to be together. But when the unexpected happens, their worlds are turned upside down once more. Will Jorie trust God to lead her into the arms of a new man?

My Review -
Loved this book! I give it 4 1/2 stars! I loved "The Choice" and I couldn't wait to read this one. I was not disappointed. I do believe Suzanne Woods Fisher might be working her way to being one of my favorite "Amish fiction" writers. Once again a very sweet book that takes place in PA among an Amish Community. It takes place in 1965 during the Vietnam War. I loved the main character Jorie, what a sweet girl! Suzanne Woods Fisher certainly has a way with her characters. From the kind and gentle Cal, the curious children - Ephriam and Maggie, the sometimes controversial brothers - Matthew and Ben, then there's the pesky, busybody Sylvia who really is only trying to help.
You even get to know some of the minor characters - Dr. Robinson, the "Negro" Veterinarian that the "English" are trying to keep away, (remember it is only 1965) and the cruel "English" Jerry Gingerich who loves starting trouble.
All through Jorie's troubles, temptations, and heartbreaks and finally triumphs and Love, this is a very nice story with a great ending. This book has - War, Racism, Cancer, and Love.
Thank you Litfuse for sending me this complimentary book to review!
